ASPPH staff represented the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) and Public Health Reports (PHR) at the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health annual meeting, the USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium May 18 – 21, in Atlanta, GA.
Ms. Allison Foster, president, NBPHE, presented a session entitled “Job Task Analysis in Public Health: What Are the Essential Tasks of Public Health Professionals?” and provided information to attendees on becoming Certified in Public Health (CPH). As publisher of Public Health Reports (PHR), the official journal of the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service, ASPPH provided copies of the journal to attendees and information on publishing opportunities. Also in attendance were several ASPPH members, including George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, Georgia Southern University Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, Georgia State University School of Public Health, University of Massachusetts-Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, University of South Florida College of Public Health, and Walden University Master of Public Health Program. This event was a valuable opportunity for the public health workforce to share innovation practices to address knowledge gaps needed to create a prevention-orientation society to improve the health and wellness of all.
