The I-GAP (International Genomics Alzheimer’s Project) consortium, a team of Boston University School of Public Health and Boston University School of Medicine researchers, has identified 11 new regions of the genome involved in the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. The study, published in Nature Genetics and the largest international study ever conducted on Alzheimer’s disease, gives an overview of the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease, in an attempt to foster a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the neurodegenerative disease.
