CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Now Accepting Applications

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) is now recruiting for the next class of EIS officers. The application period is open through August 17.

EIS is a two-year fellowship in applied epidemiology that offers a unique combination of on-the-job-learning and service. EIS officers, often called CDC’s “disease detectives,” conduct epidemiologic investigations, research, and public health surveillance around the world.

All EIS applicants must meet degree, licensing, and experience requirements. EIS is open to physicians with at least one year of clinical training, doctoral-level scientists, veterinarians, and other healthcare professionals; eligibility criteria are on the EIS website. EIS alumni have held successful leadership positions at CDC and other organizations nationally and internationally.
