The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accepted its first applications from standalone baccalaureate programs (SBP) at its winter Board of Councilors meeting in February. CEPH developed accreditation criteria for SBPs based on trends seen in the profession and requests from universities and colleges. The criteria were adopted in June 2013, and accepted applicants will now write a self-study and prepare to host an on-site visit. Moving forward, the Council will consider applications from schools of public health (SPH), graduate-level public health programs (PHP) and SBPs at its spring and fall meetings each year. The Council’s next meeting will be June 12-14, 2014.
