The award recognizes significant accomplishments or projects that affect the organization at a national level. The AHA said in a statement: “Goff was recognized for his enormous contributions to the understanding of the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, to the mentoring of future scientists, and to the development of key association guidelines for the management of patients at risk for ischemic heart disease.”
Dr. Goff was dean of the Colorado School of Public Health from 2012 – 2016 when the school enrolled its largest and most diverse student body to that date, and was re-accredited until 2023.
