According to the results of new Drexel-led research, the effect of decreased serum vitamin D concentration on the risk of type 2 diabetes may proceed through increased systemic inflammation. This research article, entitled “Multivariate path analysis of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration, inflammation and risk of type 2 diabetes” has recently been published in the journal, Disease Markers. Dr. Shaum M. Kabadi, a former PhD student at Drexel University School of Public Health, is the first author, and Dr. Longjian Liu, Dr. Amy H. Auchincloss, and Dr. Issa F. Zakeri, professors at the School of Public Health co-authored this article.
