Drexel University has formally joined into a consortium cancer center with the Thomas Jefferson University Kimmel Cancer Center, and the Lankenau Institute of Medical Research. The consortium strengthens the scientific ties and fosters collaborative pilot projects amongst the institutions, and allows faculty in the Drexel School of Public Health to participate in the Kimmel Population Sciences Working Group. The working group activities focus on research, education and community engagement in cancer prevention and control, to build consortium capacity for a population sciences program and comprehensive cancer center status. Dr. Ron Myers, professor and director of the division of population sciences at Thomas Jefferson University, and Dr. Ann Klassen, associate dean for research, and chair of the department of community health and prevention at Drexel University School of Public Health, serve as associate co-directors for population sciences in the Cancer Consortium.
