East Tennessee Examines Associations of Weight Misperception with Health-Related Quality of Life among College Students

Dr. Jodi Southerland, in the department of community and behavioral health at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) College of Public Health – working in collaboration with Dr. Liang Wang, assistant professor in the department of biostatistics and epidemiology, Dr. Kasie Richards, alumni and former clinical instructor in the College, Dr. Robert Pack, associate dean for academic affairs and professor in the department of community and behavioral health, and Dr. Deborah Slawson, chair and associate professor in the department of community and behavioral health, at East Tennessee State University College of Public Health examined the associations of weight misperception with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among college students attending a central Appalachian university. She examined the characteristics and dietary behaviors of 369 randomly selected students. Students reported their height and weight and completed the CDC’s Healthy Days core questions (CDC HRQOL – 4) in addition to reporting on physical activity and dietary behaviors.
