Dr. Robin Pendley, in the department of health services management and policy at East Tennessee State University College of Public Health has received a grant from the de Beaumont Foundation to study the characteristics of public health doctoral students over the past 50 years. The grant, titled “Charting Trends in Public Health Doctoral Education, 1957 – 2012” will allow Dr. Pendley to use the “Survey of Earned Doctorates” database to assess characteristics of public health doctoral students over the past half century. She will also evaluate trends in public health doctoral degrees over that time period. This will be the first project of its kind to illustrate trends in doctoral education in public health.
