East Tennessee Student Receives Grant to Study Farmers' Markets

Ms. Rachel Ward, a doctoral student in the East Tennessee State University department of community and behavioral health, has received a grant from Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) to further her studies related to farmers’ markets. This grant will allow Ms. Ward to examine the associations between farmers’ market managers’ perceptions of their roles and their market’s success at facilitating access to healthy foods for low-income households and at creating business opportunities for local farms.
