Ms. Sarah Bauer, a doctoral student in health services research at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, received a Student Incentive Award on behalf of the Disability Section Executive Committee of the American Public Health Association. The award was given in recognition of her research abstract, “Relationship between disability and physical and communication-related barriers to health care related services”.
The abstract examines the health care experiences of persons with disabilities and uses multivariable logistic regression to assess the relationship between disability and access to care barriers. Efforts to reduce physical barriers and improve communication between physicians and persons with disabilities may improve functional status and quality of life for these patients. Ms. Bauer will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the section’s annual business meeting.
