HealthStreet, a community engagement program at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, is hosting a free national Our Community, Our Health town hall event on August 30 from 6:00 to 7 p.m. Eastern to discuss research on opioid use and how community members can work together to approach the issue. Our Community, Our Health is a series of conversations between researchers and community members from across the country.

Held in partnership with Palm Beach Substance Awareness Coalition and Palm Beach State College, “Opioid Use and Its Consequences” can be viewed August 30 via livestream.

HealthStreet is supported by the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, the University of Florida College of Medicine, and the University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

This interactive town hall is designed to:

• Increase community knowledge of opioid misuse
• Share current research
• Inform the public of policy agendas
• Garner community recommendations for research topics

• Dr. Dave Campbell, orthopedic physician and spine surgeon, Florida Spine Center
• Dr. Henry Young, assistant professor, UF department of emergency medicine
• Dr. Jay Kuchera, physician, Resolute Pain Solutions
• Mr. Jim Hall, senior epidemiologist, Nova Southeastern University
• Mr. Kevin Twombly, community member and 911 operator, Martin County, Fla.
