Free NIH Curriculum to Educate Youth about Nutrition and Physical Activity

The National Institutes of Health has recently released an updated version of Media-Smart Youth, an interactive program to help young people better understand the complex media world around them and how it can influence their health. The 10-lesson curriculum, designed for youth ages 11 to 13, includes activities on nutrition, physical activity, media literacy, and media production.

Public health professionals and students involved in obesity prevention efforts may be interested in using Media-Smart Youth in partnership with schools, afterschool programs, or other youth-serving organizations in their communities. The NIH offers free program materials and technical assistance to help sites implement the program.
