A collaborative study including Dr. Yelena Tarasenko, assistant professor of health policy and management at Georgia Southern University Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, examines diabetes and colorectal cancer screening among men and women in the United States. Adults with diabetes are at increased risk of being diagnosed with and dying from colorectal cancer, but it is unclear whether colorectal cancer screening (CRCS) use is lower in this population. Using the 2008 and 2010 National Health Interview Survey data, we examined whether guideline-concordant CRCS is lower among men and women with self-reported diabetes.
