Georgia Southern University hosted multiple World Aids Day events throughout the first week of December to increase educational efforts and awareness about HIV/AIDS. The Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health co-sponsored these events. On Monday, free HIV testing was available as well as food, fun, and awareness activities which included a wind tunnel full of facts about HIV/AIDS presented by the Public Health Student Association. At night, students attended a performance, “Beyond Betrayal” at the performing arts center. Each day the co-sponsors of the events set up tables in the student union with educational information and fundraising opportunities to benefit HIV/AIDS research. On Wednesday, there was an AIDS walk for the cause, donation, fellowship, and celebration to work towards “Getting to Zero.” For more information, follow along on twitter @WADGSU.
