Dr. Betty Lai, assistant professor at Georgia State University School of Public Health, along with colleagues, has published “Parent and Child Distress After War Exposure” in the British Journal of Clinical Psychology. The study, which examined multiple distress symptoms (i.e., posttraumatic stress, anxiety, depression) among parents and children exposed to the Gulf Crisis in 1990 – 1991, found that parent distress was a risk factor for child depression, but not a risk factor for child posttraumatic stress or anxiety.
