Georgia State Receives Grant from Elton John AIDS Foundation for Work with Ex-Offenders

The Elton John AIDS Foundation has awarded the Georgia State University School of Public Health a $50,000 grant to support ex-offenders as they re-enter the community. As a result, neighborhoods in metro Atlanta will be better able to provide vital care those populations that are hardest to reach, and ex-offenders will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful employment. The six month-long pilot program will lead to the training of a dozen Peer Guides and ultimately to their employment in local health clinics, AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs), community-based organizations, and research institutions.
