The online program enables graduates to optimize information that health care providers and patients need to improve and maintain an individual’s health. To reach person-centric desired health outcomes, real-time and impactful information is needed from data that is accurate, reliable and accessible. Well-designed information technology infrastructure is crucial for providing this information, and that is what the program trains students to recognize, utilize and optimize.

Ms. MacTaggart is a key member of Milken Institute SPH’s Master in Health Administration program and the school’s online MHA@GW and HealthInformatics@GW programs. She has over 35 years of executive management experience in the health care field and more than 25 years working in state and federal government, overseeing strategic and operational planning and implementation support for health care delivery and payment reform through a range of initiatives, including information technology optimization.

“The people, processes, information, data and technology are all part of the equation, and they all build on each other,” Ms. MacTaggart said. “You cannot survive in the business of health care, no matter what kind of a career you want to have, without understanding the intersections, the dependencies, and the value of health information technology to create and support the data and the information needed to do your job.”
