Iowa Faculty Finds Home-Based Colorectal Tests Significantly Increase Screening Rates

A new study from the University of Iowa found that mailing an improved at-home, stool-based screening tool to patients overdue for colorectal cancer screenings resulted in a significantly higher screening rate than either usual care or educational materials alone. According to Dr. Mary Charlton, clinical assistant professor of epidemiology at the University of Iowa College of Public Health, the results could be of particular interest in rural areas.
