Johns Hopkins' Professor Receives Sight and Life Nutrition Leadership Award

The Second Annual Sight and Life Nutrition Leadership Award was presented to Dr. Robert Black, professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, by Dr. Klaus Kraemer, director of Sight and Life. President Jakaya Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania gave the keynote address. Dr. Black was honored – along with his colleagues from the Lancet Maternal and Child Nutrition Study Group – for two sets of influential nutrition articles published in 2008 and 2013. The first series, published in 2008, was recognized as a key component in the development of the Scaling-up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, a global initiative led by last year’s award winner, Dr. David Nabarro. These research articles helped focus the global community’s attention on undernutrition and guided the development of interventions that continue today improving nutrition and, thus, the lives of millions, around the world.
