Loma Linda University graduate student Mr. Ahmed Al Abdrabalnabi, a doctoral candidate at Loma Linda University School of Public Health, has been named a finalist in the American Society for Nutrition’s (ASN) Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Competition, an event that recognizes the highest scoring research presented by students and young investigators at ASN’s Scientific Sessions and Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology 2017.

“I was grateful to share my research findings with other professionals during the poster competition as well as the oral presentation,” said Mr. Al Abdrabalnabi. “While at the conference, I had the privilege of interacting with scientists and nutrition experts from around the globe who also came to share their research findings.”

More than 1,000 abstracts were submitted by students and postdoctoral fellows and the Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Competition aims to recognize the top 20 percent highest scoring abstracts as finalists. Abstracts were rated by more than 400 nutrition scientists. Mr. Al Abdrabalnabi’s abstract is titled “A Year-long Trial to Examine the Effects of a Daily Dose of Walnuts on Cardiometabolic Risk Markers in an Elderly Population”.
