The University of Louisville’s Center for Health Hazards Preparedness (CHHP) is in its second year of partnership with the Emory University School of Medicine under their grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) supporting the Worker Training Program (WTP).  The WTP is designed to equip a wide range of personnel in the healthcare and public health disciplines with the training needed to provide adequate protection from a range of emerging infectious diseases during the course of their official duties.  While Emory has focused on emergency medical service providers, we have designed our complementary training mainly for public health personnel working in local and state health departments, including laboratories.  Coursework has been delivered both in face to face settings, for example state public health meetings, and via distance learning technology through the Coursera platform.   These activities complement the fourth year of association with the Emory Rollins School of Public Health under its funding from HRSA in support of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Public Health Training Center (PHTC), one of seven affiliated sites in the southeastern region providing a wide range training for the public health workforce.  For the latter, we have extensively utilized the resources of the Kentucky TRAIN platform for online educational programming accessible throughout the nation.
