An innovative program developed by researchers at the University of Maryland School of Public Health, that involves text messages to parents, has been included in a recent report by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service Agency, “Best Practices in Nutrition Education for Low-Income Audiences”. Led by Dr. Stephanie Grutzmacher, research assistant professor of family science at the University of Maryland School of Public Health, the Text2BHealthy program delivers targeted messages to parents whose children receive classroom instruction through the Maryland Food Supplement Nutrition Education program. These messages provide parents with relevant and actionable tips that they can use to improve their child's nutrition and physical activity.
