A trans-disciplinary team of graduate students from the University of Maryland has been awarded a Green Fund Fellowship for a proposal to examine the effects of nanomaterials on the environment. Ms. Rianna Murray and Ms. Crystal Romeo Upperman, both doctoral students in the University of Maryland School of Public Health’s toxicology and environmental health program, are partnering with Mr. Ravindra Kempaiah, a student in chemistry and biochemistry, to study the presence of nanomaterials in surface water, especially in the state of Maryland. The fellowship is awarded by the University of Maryland Council for the Environment and includes $10,000 to support research focused on innovative solutions to environmental problems.
