Two graduate students from the University of Maryland School of Public Health won a competition for seed grant funding and were named Future of Information Alliance (FIA) Deutsch Seed Grant Fellows for a project focused on “Text Message Innovation for Promoting Family Physical Activity among Parents and Their Preschoolers.” Doctoral student, Ms. Erica Doxzen, and MPH student, Ms. Sarah Pomerantz, both in the department of behavioral and community health, and the rest of their research team, which includes faculty mentor Dr. Linda Aldoory, director of the UMD Horowitz Center for Health Literacy, will share in  approximately $20,000 in stipends and expenses to carry out their project. They will also collaborate with the Sesame Workshop, one of the founding partners of the Future of Information Alliance, who will help promote the project’s success with families of young children.
