The University of Maryland School of Public Health researchers published a study investigating the factors that predict whether minority high school youth choose to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). They found that among many contributing factors, having adult/parental mentors is a strong predictor of the pursuit of a college education in the health sciences. The study was published in Current Issues in Education.
