Michigan Investigates Public Awareness and Use of Online Doctor Ratings

Online ratings that review physicians can influence what doctor a patient chooses, but most patients rank insurance acceptance and geographical convenience as more important, according to UM research published in the Journal of The American Medical Association. Dr. Kai Zheng, associate professor of health management and policy, as well as Dr. Matthew Davis, professor of health management and policy, worked with colleagues from the University of Michigan Health System and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy to explore the implications of these online rating sites.
