University of Michigan School of Public Health researchers in the Brain Attack Surveillance in Corpus Christi (BASIC) project have earned a new cycle of funding that marks 20 years of federal support for stroke research. The principle investigators for BASIC include Dr. Lewis Morgenstern, director of the stroke program and professor of epidemiology, and Dr. Lynda Lisabeth, interim chair and associate professor of epidemiology. BASIC studies health disparities, to learn why minority populations have a greater burden of stroke than non-Hispanic Whites.
