Michigan Study Finds Phthalate Exposure Linked to Preterm Birth

The odds of preterm birth for women exposed to a commonly used class of chemicals known as phthalates are increased significantly, the University of Michigan, in conjunction with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, reports. The study, led by principal investigator Dr. John Meeker, professor of environmental health sciences and associate dean for research at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics.
