Minnesota Links Sports and Energy Drink Consumption to Unhealthy Teen Behaviors

University of Minnesota School of Public Health researchers found that weekly consumption of sports and energy drinks among adolescents was linked to higher levels of screen media use, cigarette smoking, and the consumption of other sugar-sweetened beverages. The study, led by Dr. Nicole Larson, research associate at the School of Public Health, relied upon data from Eating and Activity in Teens (EAT 2010), which examined diet, activity, and associated behaviors in 2,793 adolescents from metropolitan schools in Minnesota.
