NBPHE and PHR Represented at the USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium

Staff that hold positions at both ASPPH and National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) attended the Commissioned Officers Association (COA) of the U.S. Public Health Service and PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health annual meeting, the USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium June 10-12, in Raleigh, NC. The theme for the 2014 USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium was “Public Health Today: Prevention, Innovation, Progress”. The focus of this year’s Symposium was on the novel and impactful efforts based on the strategic directions of the National Prevention Strategy to address the broad scope of public health challenges.

ASPPH and NBPHE staff provided information to attendees on becoming Certified in Public Health (CPH). In addition, as the publisher of Public Health Reports (PHR), the official journal of the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service, ASPPH and NBPHE provided copies of the journal to attendees and information on publishing opportunities. This event was a valuable opportunity for the public health workforce to share innovation practices to address knowledge gaps needed to create a prevention-orientation society to improve the health and wellness of all.
