The National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) is seeking nominations for item writers for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) examination. As the number of candidates taking the CPH exam is increasing each year, the item bank must increase significantly over the next few years. To learn more about the exam, click here.
Item-writers are sought from individuals at CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health and practice agencies with expertise in one or more of the 12 competency areas below and with skill or interest in writing objective test questions. Ideally, nominees will have experience in writing objective test questions, though the NBPHE will accept nominees who are willing to learn. Nominees should also have experience teaching one the five core courses (epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, environmental health, behavioral sciences/health education.)
Training will be made available to all item-writers. CPH recertification credits may be earned for participation in the item-writing process.
Please direct any specific questions or comments about the item-writing process to Dr. Donna Petersen, NBPHE Test Development Committee Chair, at dpeters@health.usf.edu
