The National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) has modified its eligibility criteria for student candidates.  These changes have been made to reflect the growing innovation occurring in public health education.  The new criteria better reflect how many CEPH-accredited schools and programs are offering core material and will encourage further innovation, while preserving the standards of excellent which are a baseline for CEPH-accredited institutions.  Requirements that students must have completed 21 credit hours before sitting for the exam and have completed the core as five distinct courses have been removed from the eligibility requirements. The new eligibility for student candidates is:

Students of CEPH-accredited schools and programs are eligible to sit for the CPH exam so long as they have completed or are concurrently enrolled in the graduate-level core content required for their graduate degree (biostatistics, epidemiology, health services/policy management, environmental health, social behavioral sciences.) Candidates who pass the exam under this eligibility criteria will be provisionally certified until graduation. Following confirmation of their graduation, they will be Certified in Public Health.
