In a recent article in Public Health Reports, Dr. Wei Song, Dr. Mesfin S. Mulatu, Dr. Michele Rorie, Mr. Hui Zhang, and Mr. John W. Gilford at the CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention examine patterns of HIV testing and positivity among partners of HIV-diagnosed people who participated in partner services programs in CDC-funded state and local health departments. They use client-level data from partner service programs in 55 health departments to compare demographic and regional patterns of HIV testing and positivity. This analysis reveals that CDC-Funded health departments are successful in providing HIV testing and identifying undiagnosed HIV infections among partners of HIV diagnosed people and suggest the need to tailor partner services programs to address the unique needs of target populations.
