Increasing educational, economic, and housing quality are among strategies to improve racially and economically divided places like the St. Louis community. A newly released policy brief written by public health researchers from Saint Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis finds that these strategies could help reduce health disparities and improve the overall economy and quality of life in the region, which the 2010 Census ranks as the ninth most segregated between Black-White residents in the country. Eliminating segregation is better for the health of those who live in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, and better for the entire region.
