The PASOs Programs at the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health received the 2013 Outstanding Rural Health Initiative of the Year award this week from the South Carolina Office of Rural Health. The annual award recognizes a rural program for either an educational, direct service, or supportive initiative that has positively impacted a community’s health services. For the past eight years, PASOs has helped the Latino community and service providers work together for strong and healthy families, according to Ms. Julie Smithwick, executive director of the PASOs Programs.
