Dr. Stephanie Marhefka, associate professor in the department of community and family health at the University of South Florida College of Public Health, was named chair-elect of the American Public Health Association’s HIV/AIDS Section. The selection took place at the 141st Annual Meeting of APHA, the umbrella organization for more than 25,000 public health professionals. According to the group’s website, the HIV/AIDS section “Provides a professional base for members of diverse disciplines to combine talents and interests to help in the struggle with the HIV-AIDS pandemic; provides leadership to members on HIV-AIDS issues and needs.” The appointment is for one-year, after which she assumes chair of the section.
