South Florida Professor Chosen for Leadership Florida

Dr. John Petrila, professor and chair of the department of health policy and management in the USF College of Public Health, has been selected to be a member of Leadership Florida’s class of 2014-15.

Created by the Florida Chamber of Commerce in 1982, the nonprofit organization is a growing consortium of more than 800 leaders in business, commerce, education, government, law, and medicine. Each year, a new “class” is chosen. Dr. Petrila readily accepted his invitation to be part of the thirty-third class.

“It is an honor to be chosen,” Dr. Petrila said. “It is a great opportunity because of the class selected. As is the case every year, there is a great variety of people in the class, so you have business leaders, you have county commissioners, you have people from big philanthropic foundations, you have some academicians, you have people of different ages at different points in their careers, so it’s a nice opportunity in terms of the mix of people.”
