Dr. Ranjana Mehta, assistant professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health, has been selected to receive the James G. Zimmer New Investigator Research Award by the American Public Health Association (APHA) Aging and Public Health Section.

Dr. Mehta is receiving this award for her research on “Stress Impacts Physical Competencies in Older Obese Adults” and will be honored at the APHA 2014 Annual Meeting in New Orleans on November 17.

Dr. Mehta is the director of the NeuroErgonomics Lab and co-director of the Ergonomics Center in the department of environmental and occupational health at the Texas A&M School of Public Health. She received both a PhD and MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and an MEng from SUNY at the University of Buffalo.
