Texas A&M Inducts Newest Members into Local Chapter of Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health

The Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health recently inducted an honorary member, faculty member, 12 students, and seven alumni into the local Alpha Tau chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health at a luncheon in their honor at Amico Nave Ristorante.

The Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health was founded in 1924 at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health as the honorary society for graduate studies in public health. Honorary members are selected based on exceptional qualifications and having attained meritorious national or international distinction in the field of public health.

Faculty members are nominated for outstanding performance in teaching and research, while students are chosen for scholarly performance and dedication to the advancement of the health of all people. Alumni are nominated for actively engaging in public health work.

The honorary inductee and luncheon guest speaker was Dr. W.S. “Chip” Riggins, Jr., executive director and health authority, Williamson County and Cities Health District. Faculty member Dr. Mark Benden was inducted along with the following students: Ms. Nida Ali, Ms. Monica Brown, Ms. Julia Butler, Ms. Carissa Fleskes, Ms. Krystal Flores, Ms. Safa Maki, Ms. Ashley Ojeaga, Mr. Leonel Ramirez, Ms. Jennifer Ross, Ms. Chelsea Stewart, Mr. Matt Yuen, and Mr. Chidiebere Opara. Alumni inductees include Mr. Bernard Appiah, Mr. Neil Mr. Dalal, Mr. Eric Garza, Ms. Doris Howell, Ms. Deb Kellstedt, Mr. Kahler Stone, and Mr. John Prochaska.
