UIC Alumna Receives Excellence in Leadership Award from City of Chicago

University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health alumna as well as current adjunct assistant professor of community health sciences, Dr. Suzet M. McKinney, received the 2013 Kathy Osterman Award for Excellence in Leadership from Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago on November 12, 2013. Each Year, the Kathy Osterman Awards honor city employees for their superior public service and outstanding contributions. Dr. McKinney is an expert in local response in emergency preparedness and she currently serves as the deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Public Health Preparedness and Emergency Response at the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), where she oversees the emergency preparedness efforts for the Department and coordinates those efforts within the larger spectrum of the City of Chicago’s Public Safety activities.
