The winning poster was based on the paper, “Viral Suppression in HIV Studies: Combining Times to Suppression and Rebound,” authored by Ms. Gouskova and Dr. Jason Fine, professor of biostatistics in the Gillings School and of operations research in the UNC College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Steve Cole, professor of epidemiology in the Gillings School; and Dr. Joseph Eron, professor of medicine in the UNC School of Medicine. The research was published online Jan. 21 in Biometrics.
“It came as a complete surprise to hear that all three judges of the poster contest named me as their choice,” Ms. Gouskova said. “I am very grateful to members of my department for their support, which allowed me not only to participate in this interesting workshop but to receive this recognition. I especially want to thank Drs. Fine, Cole, and Eron for allowing me to work with and learn from them on this paper.”
Ms. Gouskova was supported by a biostatistics department travel award to attend the workshop.
