University at Buffalo Study Finds Increased Menthol Cigarette Use among Young People

A new study by the University at Buffalo SUNY School of Public Health and Health Professions has found an increase in menthol cigarette smoking among young adults in the U.S. and concluded that efforts to reduce smoking likely are being thwarted by the sale and marketing of mentholated cigarettes. Dr. Gary Giovino, professor and chair of the department of community health and health behavior and one of the world’s leading tobacco surveillance researchers, led the study.
