Dr. Laura Rudkin, recently began a two-year term as president of the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR). Established in 1942, APTR is the national membership organization for faculty members and academic institutions involved in educating physicians and other health professionals in prevention and population health. Dr. Rudkin is chair and Centennial professor of preventive medicine and community health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She is an elected member of the University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education and a 2013 recipient of the UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Rudkin represents preventive medicine departments on the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies.
