A ceremonial groundbreaking was held September 24 for an innovative new building at the Brown School, home of Washington University in St. Louis’s MPH program. The approximately 105,000-square-foot building will open in 2015, and bring together faculty and research centers from the Brown School’s MPH Program and School of Social Work. The $60 million building will be connected to the existing Brown and Goldfarb halls and double the Brown School’s footprint on the university’s main campus. The focal point of the new building will be the Forum, a public space for large school and university events. The building will provide more classrooms, group and individual study space for students, and a café. Dean Edward F. Lawlor said the building will mark “a new era” by bringing diverse elements of the School together.
