Dr. Frederick Rivara, adjunct professor of epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health, was vice chair of an expert panel that reviewed the science of sports-related concussions in youth. The Committee on Sports-Related Concussions in Youth, convened by the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council, issued a report October 30 with several recommendations for reducing injuries.
