Ms. Janice Camp, principal lecturer emeritus in the department of environmental and occupational health sciences at the University of Washington School of Public Health, recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

The award, given in April, recognized Ms. Camp for her long history of working with leaders in manufacturing, health care and other sectors while mentoring students and finding them internships.  “She has been instrumental in meeting the needs of practitioners through academic and continuing education programs because she listens to their needs, and works diligently to design programs that are directly and immediately applicable to practice,” according to a statement from the local chapter of the association.

Ms. Camp recently retired after 35 years with the School’s department of environmental and occupational health sciences, where she served as director of continuing education from 2012-2014 and as director of the field research and consultation group for more than a decade.

She has served as past president of the local chapter and is also a past member American Board of Industrial Hygiene and American Board of Occupational Health Nurses. Over the past three decades, she has responded to many emerging occupational hazards facing Washington state workers.
