Dr. Marian Neuhouser, affiliate professor of epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health, is the new vice-president elect of the American Society of Nutrition, effective June 1. The vice-president elect is a one-year term, followed by a year as vice-president, a year as president and a year as past-president. The Society is a non-profit organization that brings together top researchers, clinical nutritionists and industry to advance knowledge about nutrition.
Dr. Neuhouser is a member of the Cancer Prevention Program in the Division of Public Health Sciences at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle and a member of the core faculty for the University of Washington’s Nutritional Sciences graduate program. She also is one of 15 experts developing recommendations for the eighth edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, a government publication that encourages people to maintain an overall healthy diet.
Dr. Neuhouser earned her PhD in Nutritional Science from the University of Washington and her BSc in Community Nutrition from the University of California (Davis).
