A group of University of Washington School of Public Health graduates drafted and successfully pushed for adoption of a policy on protecting and enhancing Social Security at the recent American Public Health Association meeting in Boston, MA. The group of students from the School’s Community-Oriented Public Health Practice (COPHP) MPH program wrote the resolution during the fall quarter of 2012 as part of their health policy studies. Despite graduating in 2013, the students carried the policy forward, revised it several times and presented it to the APHA’s Governing Council, said Dr. Amy Hagopian, associate professor and director of the COPHP program.
