Health benefits associated with increased socioeconomic position (SEP) could be undermined by racial discrimination, particularly among whites, according to a study from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. The study is the first to examine the interaction of life course SEP and racial discrimination on mental and physical health. Dr. Darrell L. Hudson, assistant professor at the Brown School, led a team of researchers that studied data from year 15 of the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) study.
